How to Transform Weed Infested Soil to LUSH Garden Joy

It is one thing to to trun a dead weed infested plot into a vibrant garden oasis. It is all together another challenge to do so without expensive inputs like (in)organic fertilzers or large labor expenses like tilling machines.

So the first blog post begins today! After 1 year of transforming a zone 8b garden, somehow it feels right to start with a June 1, 2023 picture of the perrenial garden that captures the drought intolerant conditions of the soil.

Definitely, humble beginings. In the picture above, you can notice the 6 little piles of compost that mark the starting point of the 3-sister planting method used to return organic matter to the heavy silt, sand native dirt.

After 154 days - starting March 25/2023 - by late summer August 26, 2023 the combination of cutflowers, zinnas, runner beans, corn, squash and more... transformed a weed lawn dominated by thistle, stingling nettles.
